Born and raised in Southeast Texas, Sherrie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1965 as a proud “Yellow Jacket.” She went on to earn her associate degree in college and dedicated much of her life to education and service. Sherrie worked for the Orange Leader newspaper before beginning a 35-year career with the Port Arthur Independent School District, where she later retired.
Sherrie’s life was marked by her deep love for family, her commitment to her community, and her joyful spirit. A very dedicated member of St. Paul Global Methodist Church, she lived her faith daily and found strength and purpose in serving alongside her church family. She was also a proud and active member of several organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Caring Friends, the Golden Triangle Republican Women’s Club, the Orange County Republican Women’s Club, and her Bible study group. She cherished time with friends and was always ready to share a laugh—especially during a lively game of music bingo, which she loved.
Sherrie is survived by her son, Jose Dominguez and wife Tricia; her grandsons Nathan Dominguez and Kerwin Dominguez; and her granddaughter Lyndsey Dominguez. She also leaves behind her two beloved cats, Kitten and Ghost, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Reid; her parents, Willard Woodrow McDonald and Edith Aline Mitchael.
A gathering of family and friends to honor Sherrie will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul Global Methodist Church, 1155 W. Round Bunch Rd., Bridge City, Texas 77611, followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 AM.
Sherrie’s legacy of kindness, strength, faith, and devotion will be forever treasured by all who knew and loved her.
