Wilbert C. Boulet

Wilbert moved to Port Arthur from Abbeville, LA in 1931 and graduated from Port Arthur Business College in 1933 with a business degree. He met Wilberta Ball while attending school and they married in 1935. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in October. The two of them spent 18 months building the house they currently live in. Wilbert worked at First National Bank, Port Arthur for 6 months, then at Port Arthur Abstract Company as office manager for 15 years and finally retired in 1997 from Jefferson County Court House in Beaumont and Port Arthur as Deputy County Clerk after 25 years.

He survived colon cancer in 2000 and was very strong and healthy. After Hurricane Rita, he was found on the roof of his house spreading a tarp at the age of 94. He was recently recognized for serving the longest time in any Lions Club, 65 years. He worked tirelessly in the Founders Lion Club of Port Arthur, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for 39 years, District Governor of 2S-1 in 1995-1996 and many other offices. He attended 9 International Conventions and had perfect attendance for 55 years. He loved woodworking and was handy at fixing almost anything. He loved his cats, especially “Sassy”, a gift from his niece, Kellie Miller.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beryl Stansbury.

He is survived by his wife, Wilberta Boulet of Port Arthur; numerous nieces and nephews, Judith Wendel and husband Jack of Garland, TX, Julia Morris and husband Gerald of Bridge City, TX, Buddy Ball of Cypress, TX, Lesa Wagner and husband John of Mansfield, TX, Nicole Chauvin, Tim Stansbury, Keith Stansbury, all of Abbeville, LA; many great-nieces and great-nephews, including Clint Morris and wife Sherry and their sons, Travis and Jason all of Bridge City, TX and Kellie Miller and husband Kenneth of Port Arthur.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.

Funeral Services will follow visitation on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, TX.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Morris, Clint Morris, Travis Morris, Jason Morris, Buddy Ball, Pat Brady and Kenneth Miller.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Founders Lions Club (Port Arthur).
