

He was born on July 6, 1931 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the son of Raymond and Anna (Mangan) O’Hearn. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters degree in History and later earned a Specialist degree in Science. He served two years in the US Army where he taught citizenship classes to spouses of service members pursuing citizenship. While serving in Germany, he traveled to Portugal where he met the love of his life, Raquel Mota. They were married for 48 years until her passing. Glenn spent over 30 years as an educator, teaching Civics, History and Biology. He coached youth soccer for many years and wrote articles and a column for various soccer publications. He was an avid horticulturist, maintaining three orchid houses in his backyard. His interest in science and horticulture led him to cross-pollinate two different orchids to create a new variety. In addition, for many years he was active in the Greater North Miami Historical Society, doing research, collecting data, and writing newsletters to preserve the history of North Miami.
Glenn is survived by his sister, Kathleen (Joseph) Wilson of Davie, Fl; sister-in-law, Margarida Da Rosa of Port St. Lucie; nephews, Stephen O’Hearn, Wayne Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Christopher Wilson; niece, Lori Dillon, and many great nephews and great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel; his sister, Shirley Smeriglio; brother, Donald O'Hearn; brother-in-law, Manuel DaRosa; nephews, Charles Hubbs Jr. and David DaRosa.
A Committal service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 11:00 am at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, located at 1501 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994.
A Reception for family and friends will follow the committal service from 12-3pm at Aycock Funeral Home 1504 SE Floresta Drive Port St Lucie, FL 34983.
