

Until recently, she was a beloved and long-time resident of Venture 3 on Hutchinson Island.
She was active in the V-3 community and had served on its board of directors.
Born Jacqueline Doris Everhart in Lancaster, PA, in 1929, she was the daughter of the late John
Everhart and Ethel Snavely Everhart. She spent most of her early childhood in Lancaster,
moving to Ridley Township, PA, during World War II so that her father could work as a welder
for military equipment. Jackie was a 1946 graduate of Ridley Township High School.
In 1952 she married George Earle Jewell of Chester, PA, and they eventually moved to a new
home in Woodlyn, PA, where they had two children. She was employed as a customer service
representative at the Philadelphia National Bank in Chester, PA.
In 1980 Jackie and Earle retired and moved to Venture 3, where Earle died in 1987.
Jackie was an enthusiastic and intrepid traveler and saw the world with her best friend, the late
Beverly Merchant. The two went on dozens of cruises, visiting exotic ports of call like India,
Egypt and Russia. They also went on road trips all over the United States, regularly visiting
friends and family.
She is survived by a son, George Earle Jewell Jr. of Kulpsville, PA; a daughter and son-in-law,
Nancy and Scott Erickson of Lawrenceville, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jeanne
Everhart of Barnegat, NJ; two grandchildren, Caroline Erickson of New York City and Andrew
Erickson of Philadelphia; two nieces, Michele Renaud and Donna Everhart; and various
cousins in Lancaster and Oxford, PA.
