James J. Brooks

Jim served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was a 25- year member of the Bridgeport, CT Fire Department and retired in 1994 as Deputy Fire Marshal. He was ordained a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church on May 28, 2000 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, and his greatest joy was assisting at Mass and visiting the patients at St. Lucie Medical Center. He was a member of the Father Omer H. Brauner Council 12159 of Port St. Lucie, a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Assembly 3117, and a member of Council 8013 in Trumbull, CT. Other memberships include the Port St. Lucie Elks #2658, the Retired Policemen and Fireman's Association of Bridgeport, CT, the American Sewing Guild, and his beloved "Sons of St. Joseph" of St. Theresa Parish in Trumbull, CT. His last wish in this life was to make deacon stoles on his Brother "Dream Machine".

Survivors include two sons, David of Avon Park, FL and Jimi of Bridgeport, CT; a sister, Janice Mongillo of Milford, CT; two nephews, John and Anthnony DeMartino; a niece, Rebecca Dickinson of Trumbull, CT; a brother-in-law, William S. Sinclair of Trumbull, CT; a sister-in-law, Barbara Dickinson and her husband Douglas of Monroe, CT; two grandchildren, Ashley and Nathaniel Brooks and three great grandchildren, Janson, Jeffrie, and Abbygail of Anchorage, AK.

Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2017 from 10:00AM - 12:00 Noon at Holy Family Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon. US Navy honors will be after Mass.
