Born in Weston, WV, he was a long-time resident of Port St. Lucie, FL.
During WWII, James served in the US Army.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Hammer was a Mechanical Engineer for I.B.M. for 35 years.
He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church of Port St. Lucie, FL.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia.
Survivors include his second wife, Geraldine Hammer of Port St. Lucie, FL; one son, Rick Hammer and his wife Nancy of Hickory, NC; one daughter, Joan Orr and her husband Bernie of Port St. Lucie, FL; three grandchildren, Brian, Kelsey, Jared, and one great-grandson, Riley.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 2:00PM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 295 NW Prima Vista Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.
