Larry D Heimer Sr

Larry was born on May 6 in Hamburg, Illinois, to Donald and Frances. Not only did Larry love his country, but he was also a brave and loyal soldier dedicating his life to the U.S. Navy for 6 years, which included 3 tours in Vietnam. He proudly served as a member of the local American Legion Post 318. He served 2 years on the legion executive board. He was an assistant director of the legion riders and helped cook all the dinners for the legion riders. Larry volunteered not only his time but also his talent and experience in the large undertaking of expanding the parking lot of Post 318.

Larry loved life and lived it to the fullest from his work to his recreational activities. He was a jack of all trades and master of all. Just to name a few; Barber and Gun Turret Tender on the USS Topeka, Boat/Barge Tug Captain, Police Officer, Horse Breaker, Gunsmith, Heavy Equipment Manager/Operator, Deep Sea Fisherman, Custom Fishing Rod Builder, Scuba Diver, Airplane Pilot, Race Car Driver, RV Adventurer, Harley Davidson Enthusiast/Rider, Fruit and Vegetable Gardener and his most recent Birdhouse Craftsman that he worked side by side with the love of his life "Doll Babe".

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mariko "Mika" Heimer; loving children, Larry (Wendy) Heimer, James "Jim" (Ellen) Heimer, Maria Heimer, Monica (Daniel) Cook; brothers, Michael and Jeffrey Heimer as well as 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Wayne and Frances Chaplin Heimer; stepmother Betty Heimer; and brothers Darrell, David, Jerry, James, and Timothy Heimer.

Please join us in celebrating Larry's life on Saturday, July 8, 2023, between the hours of 11:30am - 2:30pm at Aycock Funeral Home 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946.
