

Robert “Bob” James Morrissey passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at his home in Port Saint Lucie, FL on the evening of October 16th. Bob was born on December 10, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Sarah. He was 88 years old.
Bob, a lifelong athlete and jokester, was a graduate of Woodward High School where he was quarterback of the football team. He went on to obtain a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Police Science from the University of Toledo, where he played on the University’s football team. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Bob served during the Korean War, and was ultimately recruited to play football for the U.S. Army team. He later went on to play football for the Toledo All Stars semi-pro team as well as the Toledo Tornado professional team.
For 33 years, Bob served on the Toledo Police Department, protecting his community. During this time, he served as a Detective, taught Police Science at The University of Toledo and Owen’s Tech Community College. He fostered his love of competitive swimming by training for and competing in multiple International Law Enforcement Olympics where he won numerous swimming gold medals. After an entire career of keeping the citizens of Toledo safe, Bob retired with several commendations for heroism and outstanding work before moving to Florida.
While in retirement, Bob was continually active, enjoying competitive swimming and racquetball. In addition to traveling and watching college football, he developed a love of writing by joining a writer’s club, where he wrote and published five books.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Mindy (Tom) Nowacki, Robert “Bobby” (Patty) Morrissey, Kelley (Jess) DeMaria, Kathleen Morrissey, stepdaughter Heather (Graeme) Mellet; siblings, Audrey Eberle, Sharon (Ronald) Molnar,12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by Sarah his mother, Charles his father, Charlene his sister, Colleen Morrissey his first wife, Katie Morrissey his granddaughter, Max Morrissey his grandson and Ben Morrissey his grandson.
Please join us in celebrating Bob’s life on Saturday, October 29th between the hours of 2pm and 5pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Southeast Floresta Drive in Port Saint Lucie, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Bob’s behalf to his grandsons’, Ben and Max Morrissey’s memorial fund for their surviving spouses and children who were victims of the recent BP Oil Refinery fire in Oregon, Ohio.
