Born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut, Rocco was the youngest of 13 siblings in a large, close-knit Italian family. He attended local schools before starting work at Edwards Signaling Device Company, where he met the love of his life, Antoinette “Betty” Gaeta. The two married in 1952 and shared a beautiful 73-year journey together.
Soon after their wedding, Rocco was drafted into the Korean War. He served with pride and honor, earning the rank of Corporal before returning home. Back in Norwalk, he resumed work at Edwards and later ran Rocky’s Silvermine Esso gas station. He finished his working career at PerkinElmer, retiring early in 1986.
In retirement, Rocco and Betty divided their time between Connecticut and Port St. Lucie, Florida, embracing the snowbird lifestyle for many years before settling in Florida full-time in 2001. Summers were often spent at Roaring Brook Family Campground in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, where Rocco cherished time outdoors and enjoyed making lasting memories with family and friends. He was also a life member of the South Norwalk Boat Club and avid fisherman who enjoyed cooking the catch almost as much as the catch itself.
