Shirley Wilkinson-Heath,87,was born March 20, 1938 to Enid Linton and Harry Wilkinson who at the time resided at 39 Belgrade Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies and passed away in Port Saint Lucie, Florida on May 26, 2025. She is survived by a son, Curtis Inniss, two brothers, Dennis and Anstey Wilkinson, and several nieces and nephews. She was the fourth of seven children and the middle of three sisters.
Shirley graduated from nursing school in Trinidad eventually coming to America where, after working at other hospitals, she retired from Morrisania Hospital, Bronx, New York. She migrated to Florida in 1996. Not being able to stay retired she returned to work until 2012 when she retired for the last time as the illness that eventually led to her transition began to take effect.
Shirley was an active member of her church, Holy Faith Episcopal Church, until the time of her passing. She served as a lay eucharistic minister, lector, and a member of the “Daughters of the King,” as well as other church ministries.
Shirley was also an avid Scrabble player, line dance enthusiast, gardener. She also loved attending plays and musical productions at Indian River State College.
Shirley’s final resting place is Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, Florida, USA.
A Visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at Holy Faith Episcopal Church, 6990 S Federal Hwy, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952. A Graveside service will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens, S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994.
