Walter Joaquim

Walter was born to John and Lucy (Marques) Joaquim in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He has been a resident of Ft. Pierce for the past 22 years, coming from Somers, CT. Prior to his retirement, Walter was a sheet metal worker for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT for 35 years. He was an avid fisherman, boater, and loved to ride his motorcycle and wave runner.

Walter is survived by Mary, his wife of 57 years; daughter Judy Mauro, and her husband Dale, of Ft. Pierce; son Richard Joaquim and his wife Rita of Bricktown, NJ; grandchildren Nicole Ashley and her husband Josh, Brian Mauro, Christopher Joaquim, Sean Joaquim, Ryan Joaquim, Hollie Joaquim, and Patrick Joaquim, ; great grandson Jimmy Mauro; and sister Belmira Thompson of Errol, ME.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael Joaquim, grandson Jeffrey Mauro, and brother Raul Joaquim.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, with a prayer service at 3:30 PM, on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Catholic Church, 1924 Zephyr Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL 34982. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34981.
