Bill left college to enlist in the Army Air Corps where he trained to fly the B-29 Super Fortress. His missions were over Japan during World War II. He had the honor of being part of the huge formation of American planes flying over the USS Missouri and Tokyo Bay celebrating the signing of the surrender of the Japanese, signaling the end of World War II.
He returned to finish his studies and moved to Miami Beach, FL where he practiced Chiropractic for 32 years. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Optimist Club. He retired to Beech Mountain, NC, before moving back to Florida in 1996 to be near his children.
Bill enjoyed life to the fullest. He traveled the world, lived on a houseboat, and high on a mountain top. He played tennis, golf, and skied, but fishing was his greatest passion.
