Devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, proud veteran, and man of unwavering faith.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on October 1, 1946, and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, Bill was a man whose life was grounded in service, family, and love for his country. After graduating from Dondero High School, he was awarded a college scholarship, but felt a deeper calling to serve. Inspired by the footsteps of his brother and driven by a profound sense of duty, he chose to enlist in the United States Navy in 1966. He spent 8 years on active duty and continued his commitment with 19 years in the Naval Reserve, reflecting a lifelong devotion to his country.
He carried that spirit of service into his professional life as a civil service engineer with Digital Equipment Corporation, where he served as a branch manager with pride and diligence.
Raised by a family rooted in Methodist ministry, in 1982, he converted to Catholicism—an expression of the faith that anchored him. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and an active parishioner, finding strength and purpose through his church community.
Together with his beloved wife, Catherine, whom he married on October 26, 1969, Bill built a life centered around family, love, and togetherness. They shared over five decades of marriage, raising a close-knit and loving family that includes:

Son Shane Kicker, whose presence completed a family rich in connection and joy.

His cherished extended family includes his nephew Nicholas; niece, Elizabeth (Ernst) Ball, her husband Christopher, and their children, Liam, Owen—each a reflection of the loving legacy he helped shape.
He spent the past 25 years in Port St. Lucie, finding great happiness in the Savannah Club community, where he formed meaningful friendships and enjoyed the peaceful charm of the adjacent Savannah Preserve. He could often be found sharing thoughtful conversation, lending a helping hand, or simply soaking in the warmth of his neighbors and surroundings.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, duty, and faith. He was the steady compass for his family, a man who stood tall in his values, and someone who gave freely of his heart to all who knew him.
