Claire C. (Daicy) Buzzell

Portland, ME – Claire C. (Daicy) Buzzell, 81, a lifelong resident of Portland, died Friday, March 23, 2012 in Maine Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Buzzell, Jr. who died in 1974.

Claire was born on December 5, 1930 in Portland, ME a daughter of the late Chester W. & Flora A. (Skillin) Daicy.

She was a true matriarch and took pride in not only running her household and raising her seven children, but also in caring for many children in Portland through the years.

Claire is survived by her children Brad Ripley of Baltimore, MD; Linwood “Lucky” Buzzell of Westbrook, ME; Kevin Buzzell and his wife Sara Ouellette of Portland; Waltina (Buzzell) Cassidy and her husband Tim of Northboro, MA; Walter Buzzell and his wife Linda of Sarasota, FL; Beverly (Merrill) Bakker and her husband Ron of Sterling, MA and Marjorie (Meade) Newell of Maryland. She also leaves behind 16 beloved grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday March 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 476 Summit Street, Portland. A live video feed will be available for those unable to attend the service at www.gbc.to.

Burial in Eastern Cemetery, Gorham will be private.
