
He was born on September 27th, 1946, the son of the late Lemuel and Josephine (Thomas) Slauenwhite. He attended Sacred Heart St. Dominic and other local Portland schools, graduating from Portland high school in 1963.
After graduating, James joined the Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War. He also served in Germany and the Philippines. He was honorable discharged in 1970.
James enjoyed watching television with his wife, especially when it was “Leave it to Beaver”. He also enjoyed watching documentaries about America's involvement in different wars.
James is survived by his two daughters, Lori Greenleaf and Melanie Greenleaf; a son, Michael Greenleaf; two nephews, Lemuel (John) Slauenwhite III and Christopher Boyle; a niece, Kimberly Boyle, and his beloved cat, Mimikins. James was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley, his parents, a brother and a sister.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 12th at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens ave, Portland, ME.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 981 Forest ave, Portland, ME.
