Judith Vickerson

Judith Anne Vickerson, born June 12, 1940, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 85 with her daughter April by her side. Born in Aroostook County, Maine. Judith made her way to Portland in her early years, where she spent most of her life on Munjoy Hill. It was there she created her home with her family, and a life full of stories, resilience, and character. Judith dedicated much of her life to caring for her children and stepchildren in her own unique way. She was part of a large, blended family and loved each of them deeply. Known for her spiciness and her silliness, Judith had a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walden Vickerson Jr; her daughter, Sandra Pettengill; her son, Richard Shaw; her stepdaughters, Elizabeth Gouzie and Carla Malvesti; and her stepson, Christopher Vickerson.

She is survived by her daughters April Ballard and her husband Harry Ballard their 3 children, Shantel Ballard (with whom she shared a special bond), Anthony (Gus) Ballard and Brandon Ballard. Daughter Julie Vickerson and her children Jennifer Velez, Kimberly Velez, Tisha (Oliver) Clukey, Daughter Cherie LaRochelle, Son Joseph Shaw Jr, Stepson Walden Vickerson III. Many numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who carry on her legacy.

A private service will be held for immediate family at a later date. Judith will be remembered for her strong spirit, her humor, and the unique ways she showed her love.
