Judy Campbell passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2026, at her home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was born on May 2, 1950, along with her twin sister Jane Haskell. She grew up in a crazy, loving household as the actual middle child of seven children to Gladys and Anthony Cipriano. Her dad died of cancer when she was just 17.
She loved to share stories of her raucous household when she was younger growing up on Valley Street before moving to Arcadia Street in Portland. She graduated Portland high school, and she met her husband Delbert Campbell while roller skating. They were married soon after graduation and had their first child Andy soon after! Judy and Jane were inseparable and lived together most of their adult lives with their husbands and Judy and Del’s kids Andy Becky and Ryan. When the whole group moved from Gorham to 73 Haskell Street in Westbrook, they opened J&J Daycare and changed the lives of so many! Judy and Jane loved kids, and the daycare took in a lot of kids whose parents couldn’t even afford to pay for daycare. It didn’t matter to them, they just wanted to make sure that these kids had a safe place to be, and they would take whatever the parents could afford.
Judy was a kind, loving soul and in her younger years you could find her on the bowling league, and any given Friday or Saturday night, hosting poker games! There was always wild Craziness in her house, and at any point, you could find 19 toothbrushes lined up in her bathroom, for all the kids or people that may be living in the house at one time! She always had a room to spare for anyone that needed it! She was kind and generous and loved so much by so many! If you ask any of her grandchildren, they will tell you they would rather be at Nana‘s house than anywhere on earth! That’s how much they loved her, and they always will!
Judy is predeceased by her mother Gladys and her father Anthony, and her sister Shirley and brother Donny.
She is survived by her brother Tony, her twin sister Jane, her sister JoAnne and baby sister Bonnie as well as her ex-husband Delbert and her children, Andy, Becky, Ryan, and 13 grandchildren Emily, Taylor, Drew, Zoie, Sage, Glade, Willow, Ledger, Truper, Pryce, Riley, Macy, and Avery, and 3 great-grandchildren Copper, Charlotte and Grahm.
There will be a celebration of life and burial this spring.
