Lawrence was a lover of life and a hard worker, cutting meat and helping his brothers run the family business, Ralph’s Store, on Cumberland Street for many years. As hard as he worked, he played harder, but what he really enjoyed was helping others have a great time. He would never turn away a kid on the beach longing to try their hand at water skiing and would always eagerly give an admirer of one of his many motorcycles or cars a ride around the block. No matter what the activity, waterskiing, cars, motorcycles, or woodworking, he did it with passion.
In his later years, he loved to give visitors a tour around his home showing off his woodworking, his colorful clocks, and his many hand crafted knick knacks, all the while pointing out his perceived mistakes with a crooked little smile on his face. If you were lucky you left with a tuck board, cribbage board, or maybe even one of his precious clocks.
Dad was so thankful for all of his friends and family that took the time to stop by and visit over the past few months. The stories flowed freely, filled with lots of laughter and tear now and then. We will hold those memories close to our hearts forever. Special thanks to Andwell Hospice for the amazing care and love they provided to dad in his last months. God Bless you all.
