
Portland, ME -- LOIS FAYE CARSON, 80, of Frederic Street, passed away on November 13, 2013 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland, on September 23, 1933; the daughter of Henry S. C. and Katherine E. (Linscott) Neil.
Lois was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1952. She married Edwin Paul Carson on May 27, 1952, and started their family. Her life revolved around church and family. She was a faithful member of South Coast Community Church (formerly Trinity Baptist Church) for thirty-eight years. She enjoyed playing cards, especially skip-a-boo with her family. She always appreciated sugar cookies from her granddaughter, hugging her grandson, and giving stuffed animals to her youngest grandchild. Family appreciated her cooking throughout the years with as many as fourteen in her household. More recently, she liked completing word search puzzles and old movies. She also enjoyed animals, owning many pets throughout her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin in 1983.
She is survived by her eight children: Ida of Portland; Edwin II and his wife Janice of Tampa, Florida; Henry and his wife Madeline of Portland; Dennis of Portland; Faye Prescott and her husband Stephen of Cornish; Donald of Portland; Bruce and his wife Karen of Portland; and Robert of Portland. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Rachel Ruf (carrying a great-grandchild) and her husband Christian of Germany; Stephen Prescott and his wife Chelsea of Westbrook; and Tori, Danny and Bruce of Portland, also a sister-in-law Janet Carson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at South Coast Community Church, 368 Gorham Road, Scarborough, Maine. Her remains will be buried next to her husband's at Forest Cemetery in South Portland.
