Marge was born on September 30, 1939 in East Orange, NJ to Francis “Frank” and Clara (née Dake) Wightman. She lived in Lakehurst, NJ and attended Lakewood High School (New Jersey). At 19, she married Donald J. A. Erickson and they welcomed 5 children into their lives and lived in several states on the east coast before settling in Lisbon Falls, ME. Donald preceded Marge in death in 1988. For many years, Marge traveled, gardened, and led a Bible study for widows as a longtime member of Lisbon Falls Baptist Church. She met and fell in love with Franz Thomann from Germany where they married in June of 2015. They renewed their vows in 2016 and celebrated with friends at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church. She is remembered her for exceptional warmth and kindness and her positive outlook on life. If there was good to be found in a difficult situation, she found it.
She made everyone feel loved and welcomed. Her family remembers her for making room in her home for anyone in need, whether it was for a meal, for the night, or until they got back on their feet again. No matter how little she had, there was always enough to share. She exemplified love, grace, kindness, mercy and compassion daily. She found beauty everywhere, in everyone and everything. She was an avid birdwatcher, genealogist, and a humble servant of Christ. She was a living example of Prov 31: 10 - 31.
She is survived by her husband, Franz Thomann, her daughters, Joyce (née Erickson) Modic of Peoria, AZ (husband Pat), Donnella (née Erickson) Prentice of Clarkesville, TN, and Kirsten (née Erickson) Moseley of Lisbon, ME, her sons, David Erickson and John Erickson of Lisbon Falls, ME, grandchildren, Daniel Robinson (wife Nadine), Katherine (née Robinson) Burnham (husband Kyle), Charlotte (née Cook) Rockett (husband Torrey), Elise (née Prentice) Prentice Rosecrans (husband David), Carly Prentice, Ashley Prentice, Brandon Prentice, 10 great grandchildren, and many more by love and marriage. She was predeceased by her widower, Donald J. A. Erickson (d. 1988), her sister, Birdella (née Wightman) Corbitt (d. 2014), and her stepsister, Doris B. Mitchell (d. 2020).
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held for her at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church in Lisbon Falls on February 11, 2023.
