Mary Ellen (Walker) Sulunek

She was born in Ellenville, NY on September 16, 1956 a daughter of the late Edward O. & Grace Laura (Koeing) Walker.   

Mary Ellen was an active parishioner at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Portland and a faithful volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry. Before moving from Old Orchard Beach to Westbrook she was an active participant in the ministries of Trinity Episcopal Church in Saco.

In addition to her church, Mary Ellen was a Garden Forum member, making friends across the country. She was an avid reader as well as a prolific writer of poetry, children’s plays and pageants, and inspirational material. She was also an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who delighted in sharing this gift with others whether in performances, ministry or passing along sheet music, lyrics, or new techniques. Among her favorite pastimes were needlework, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her beloved son Maximillian Salunek of South Portland and formerly of Westbrook.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 143 State Street, Portland.
