Robert A. Smedberg

Robert was born in Chelsea, Maine on July 3, 1940 a son of the late George Herbert & Noella Christine (St. Hiliare) Smedberg Sr. He attended local area schools and graduated from Lawrence High School.

He was a mill worker, working for Woolin Mill and Diamen Match before retiring.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors including hunting fishing and boating and he also had an avid interest in horse racing. His favorite pastime though had to be dancing. Robert was a man on the go, always keeping busy; if not with his hobbies he would be busy helping others around him. He was a genuinely caring person, always wanting to please and never allowing anyone to leave his home hungry.

Besides his wife, Beverly, he is survived by his children Caroline Smedberg of Bangor, Robert Smedberg Jr. of Attleboro, MA, Diane Smedberg of Taunton, MA, Nancy Wertz of East Taunton, MA and Debbie Smedberg of Norton, MA; his step-children Tony Gilbert of Heartland, ME, Brian Gilbert of Benton, ME, Georgette Boudreau of Sidney, ME, Ruthann Tillinghast of Madison, ME and Paula Taylor of Waterville, ME. He also leaves three brothers Herbert George Smedberg of Foxborough, MA, Harry Smedberg of Fairfield, ME, Ellis Smedberg of North Ansen, ME and four sisters Georgetta Francis of Cape Brenton, Canada, Anna Littlefield of Indianapolis, IN, Eva May Karause of Fairfield, ME and Barbara Quirion of Stratum, NH, along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, including his beloved dog Sarah.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta
