Ruth A. (Chadbourne) Murphy

She was born in Savannah, GA, ME on May 14, 1949 a daughter of the late Earl & Katherine (Rice) Cahdbourne. She graduated from Portland High School and later graduated from Westbrook Junior College.

Ruth worked as an administrator for many years, working for F. Brown, Catholic Charities and Valle’s. She also worked for 20years for G.M. Pollack, retiring in 2005.

Ruth will be remembered as a woman with a gentle heart and at the same time tough talk, always saying what needed to be said. She was constantly sought out for her advice and was truly loved by all who knew her.

Besides her husband Dan, she is survived by her daughter Paula Pettersen and her husband Todd of Standish and their children, Ruth’s grandchildren T.J., Daniel and Ann-Marie. She is also survived by her brother Jimmy Chadbourne and his wife Sherry of Limington, her sisters Shirley Marinacci and her husband Joe of Gorham, Gladys Lovejoy and her husband Dennis of Standish, Mary Swartz and her husband L. Bobby of Waterboro and Cindy Lovejoy of Buxton; as well as her sister-in-law Maryanne Murphy of Boston, MA, several nieces and nephews and dear friends Dennis and Danielle Gillespie of Beaufort, SC. Ruth was also the sister of the late Donald Chadbourne and the late Raymond “Chabby” Chadbourne.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
