

Auburn, ME – Sally (Brooks) Dow, 80, of South Paris and formerly of South Portland died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Auburn Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Lewis C. Dow who died in April, 1974.
Sally was born in Portland, ME on September 16, 1931 a daughter of the late Guy L. & Frances E. (Doe) Brooks. She was a South Portland resident most of her life. In 1996 she moved to South Paris to be closer to her daughter and her family.
Sally worked for a time in the late 1980’s on the product line at Idexx Corp. However, her favorite job throughout the years was being a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting and shopping and along with her husband, who was a chef, loved cooking; her specialty was her fried chicken and her fish chowder. Sally also took great pleasure in playing board games with her family, her favorite was a game called Dice.
Sally is survived by her daughter Sharon M. Collins and her husband Timothy of Oxford, ME and her son Larry R. Dow of Portland as well as nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Marguerite B. Dow of Madawaska, ME, two sisters Betty McFarlane and her husband Jim of Chino Valley, AZ and Sue Lewis and her husband John of Dummelton, FL, her brother Walter Brooks and his wife Faye of Citrus Springs, FL and several nieces and nephews. Sally was also the mother of the late Michael L. Dow and the sister of the late William Brooks and Joanne Spaulding.
A graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland at a later date.
