

Buxton- William James Kerr, 74, of Buxton passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 1st, 2013. He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene Ann Duncan in the caring paws of his beloved dog, Max. William was born on March 21st, 1939, the son of the late Larrie and Frances (Cheabourne) Kerr of Portland.
In William’s life he worked as a foreman for American Steel for 25 years before retiring and was an avid member of the Eagles club. William loved to play cards, his favorite being cribbage, he enjoyed to be outside hunting, playing horse shoes, or just spending time with friends, family and his dog around a camp fire.
Besides his loving wife Charlene; he leaves three children, Kim Ambrose and her husband Jon, of Standish, Robin Martin and her husband David, of Buxton, and Larry Kerr and his partner Joanne Beddard, of Waterboro; four grandchildren, Stephen Ambrose and his wife Kelly, Ryan Berry, Ashley Martin, Emily Martin; two great grandchildren, Steven and Kaleb Ambrose; a sister, Judy Carver and her husband Wallace; two brothers, Roland McKeen and his wife Carol, and James McKeen; an Uncle, Howard “Uncle Butch” Chadbourne and his wife Hazel. William was predeceased by a brother, Thomas McKeen, along with William’s parents; and step-father, Roland McKeen.
A special thanks to the staff at Maine Medical Center, The Gorham House, Hospice of Southern Maine, and the visiting nurses for all their exceptional hard work and special attention in the past few months. A special thanks to Susannah Stack for helping the family out during a very difficult time. Also, a special thanks to William’s roommate while at Gorham House, James Jones, for help making his last days pleasant.
