“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” - Emma Lazarus
Anh passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Duke Raleigh Hospital on December 19, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Bay Thi Phan; daughter Phuong, sons, Hai, Hien and Hieu; daughter-in-laws Ginger, Linda and Cassie; grandchildren Jasmine, Jet, Emma, Henry, Rachel, Sydney and Ryder. Also surviving Anh are his seven brothers and sisters, their respective spouses, and numerous nephews and nieces whom he dearly loved.
In the late 70’s, Anh gathered his family onto a boat to escape communist Vietnam. They were lost at sea for 31 days and eventually landed at a Malaysian refugee camp. Through the help of non-profits in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, all family members immigrated to the United States. Anh’s foresight and courage paved the way for future generations to live the American Dream. He passed the same way he lived, truly free.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 21st from 5pm to 8pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609.
