Barbara Nancy Torgersen passed away on February 1, 2017 after a short illness. She is survived by her son Grayson Torgersen, her daughter Karen Tewell, son-in-law, Daryl Tewell, along with her granddaughter, Nancy Shultz, and grandson Ivan Tewell.
Barbara grew up in Phoebus, VA (which became part of Hampton, VA), graduated from Hampton High School, and subsequently worked at the Army Base Fort Monroe, VA. She them married Colonel Maxwell S. Torgersen, US Army, who later passed away in 2000. She then moved to Raleigh, NC in 2011 to reside at the Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community until her death.
She will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery with her husband.
Barbara was a loving Mother, Wife, and Friend. She leaves behind the life of an Army wife filled with beautiful memories, passed on to her family, and will be missed by many.
