Rebecca “Becky” Ammons Thompson, 66, of Stella, NC passed away at her home on July 19, 2025.
Becky was born in Tabor City, NC, the daughter of the late Iris Bunn Ammons and Russell Ammons, Jr.
Becky married her husband Wayne and they had two children, Lindsey and Cody.
She helped grow two successful family businesses with her husband, and later her son, with her knowledge of accounting and business management.
Becky’s absolute favorite thing in the world was laying on the beach and listening to beach music. She loved to shag, and would tear up the dance floor for hours in North Myrtle Beach. She also loved to work out with her friends at the gym, eat desserts (her favorites were key lime pie, 14 layer chocolate cake, and most recently – Oreo McFlurries from McDonald’s), and go on boat rides on the coast. She enjoyed spoiling her grand dogs too after her beloved Ally passed away.
Throughout her life, she was a member of a few different churches, and loved to sing hymns and participate in bible study.
Preceding her in death are her father, Russell Ammons, Jr. and mother, Iris Bunn Ammons.
Becky is survived by her husband, Wayne Thompson, Jr.; daughter, Lindsey (Matthew) Mastranunzio of Belmont, NC; son, Cody (Christa) Thompson of Maysville, NC; granddaughters, Presley Thompson and Lawson Mastranunzio; brother, Russell (Mary) Ammons, III,; niece, Amanda (Shay) Hatch; and mother-in-law Shera Floyd.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on August 2nd, 2025 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home.
The family will have visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. before the memorial service at the funeral home.
