Born in 1950 in Dunn, Belinda attended Dunn High School where she was Homecoming Queen and played varsity basketball. She graduated in 1968. Belinda went on to marry her former husband, Harry Sasser shortly thereafter. She had two successful careers, first in hospitality management, including the Holly Inn in Pinehurst, and then as a legal secretary with several Raleigh law firms. She was a member of Garner Advent Christian Church for many years where she sang in the choir with her extended family. Belinda was a vibrant person, known for her kind heart, sense of humor and her determination. Belinda’s favorite role in life was being a mother; she never ended a conversation with her son without telling him she was proud of him and that she loved him.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Sasser and his wife, Elisabeth, of Raleigh and her grandchildren, Madeleine and Luke, whom she would have loved to watch grow up. She also leaves behind a brother, John Johnson, and his wife, Mary Gail, of Greensboro, NC and a brother, Robert Johnson, and his wife, Judy, of Atlanta, GA and a niece and 5 nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of 40 years, Patricia Limbo, and her husband, Terry, of Benson, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alda Tart, father, George Johnson and step-father Clyde Tart.
A memorial service will be held at 3p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home located at 1701 East Millbrook Road in Raleigh.
