Charles James Keil

Jim Keil, 77, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. Jim was born September 7, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Charles James Keil and Ellen Tracy Keil. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held Saturday June 5, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Jane Keil, devoted dad to Kristen Keil Ricciuti (Frank), Brendan Keil (Robyn) Daniel Keil (Jennifer). Loving Grandfather (Papa) of Alexander Ricciuti, Honor Keil Sanchez, Benjamin Ricciuti, Aiden Keil, Allyson Keil, Evan Keil, Kathryn Keil, Kimberly Keil and Chloe Keil. Brother of Peggy Keil, Mary-Ellen Keil Orabona and the late Jane Keil Cochard and Jack Keil.

Jim graduated from Monmouth College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He started in the business world in New York City at Business Week Magazine. Also, in New York City, he then went to work at BBDO. He then moved to Akron, Ohio to work at Halberts. In 1977, Jim moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to run direct marketing departments at Ketchum McCloud and Grove. He then moved to Dallas,Texas run the direct marketing department at Tracy Locke/DDB. The last move was to Raleigh, North Carolina to run the direct marketing department at Rocket, Burkhead& Winslow and to go on to create the Keil Group where he developed and executed the direct marketing programs from direct mail to complex multimedia programs that built brands while generating required responses. Jim’s last business adventure was a partner with Expliciti, Inc. He was developing an infrastructure of delivery and tracking platforms to give clients a complete marketing system.
