He grew up in Vincennes, IN where he attended Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn a BS in Industrial Engineering at Notre Dame University in 1959. He also achieved an MBA at Indiana University in 1961. That same year, 1961, Chuck married his college sweetheart, Judy, whom he adored. Chuck embarked on a career with Owens Corning Fiberglass where he was an engineer. As he rose through the ranks, his career allowed them to live in many states throughout the U.S. He provided diligently for his wife and eventually his daughters that were born in 1964 and 1966. The family ultimately settled in Raleigh, NC where they have lived for over 50 years. While residing in Raleigh, Chuck worked as the Property Manager at Highwoods Properties while also running his own company PMI (Practical Management Inc.) where he retired in 2012. Chuck certainly believed in hard work and exemplified that throughout his life. He loved his family fiercely and he showed that in many ways. Chuck was a great provider, a guiding mentor, an amazing source of knowledge and a dedicated supporter to each member of his family no matter the endeavor, event or occasion. He always showed up and the love for his family was very apparent.
Chuck has provided anyone and everyone that knew him with many fond memories. He has truly left an impact on many people. Chuck had great neighbors that mutually created a family down on the cul-de-sac. His business dealings in the community were more like family working together. Chuck and Judy’s favorite restaurant is Winston’s Grille. Going there proved to be more than merely getting a meal. It was more like visiting family. Everyone that knew Chuck loved him. He was fun, loving, generous and wise. He was truly a dedicated family man and very devoted to the love of his life, his wife Judy. They were always together either shopping, exercising, doctor appointments, enjoying a trip to North Myrtle Beach or traveling abroad. For anyone that knows them would agree that “ChuckandJudy” will forever be one word. Chuck will be painfully missed “A very A lot”. His impact on everyone that knew Chuck Ostendorf will forever be harbored in the hearts of those that love him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Chuck’s honor to two organizations that he supported and were important to him.
