

David Corey Monteleone, 57, of Raleigh died on June 5, 2014 at Wake Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, New York on October 2, 1956 to Joseph A. Monteleone and Priscilla Downing. He was preceded in death by his mother.
David graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York in 1974 and from SUNY at Potsdam in 1978 with a degree in Computer Science. He worked for IBM for 21 years in Kingston, New York, Boca Raton, Florida, and Raleigh, North Carolina. He then became an independent computer programming contractor and worked all over the country, from California to Rhode Island and many places in between. He was a resident of Raleigh since 1989.
David loved the beach and especially the Big Oak Drive Inn on Atlantic Beach. He also loved holidays, especially Christmas, and was known for his elaborate decorations and baking.
David is survived by his son, Chris Monteleone (Kimberly) of Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter Alicia Grant (Chris) of Harrisburg, North Carolina, and grandchildren Wesley and Emma Grant. He is also survived by his ex-wife Laura Monteleone of Raleigh; father Joseph A. Monteleone of Syracuse, New York, sister Deborah Monteleone
of Buffalo, New York, and brother Joe Monteleone of Syracuse, New York.
The family wants to extend its deepest thanks and appreciation to the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for David at Wake Med. A special thank you goes to Dr. David Kirk and RNs Joy, Denene and Robyn for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.
