

Dot was a Navy Nurse during WWII serving in San Francisco caring for the pilots coming back from the Pacific, burned, battered and broken.
Dot and Bob married after the war and moved several times during Bob's career in the weather service: Panama, New York City, Cleveland OH, Charleston WV and then to Raleigh in1973. They were Directors on the Founding Board of Hospice and both were volunteers for 20 years helping patients and families. Dot was a nurse in Berea, OH for 15 years, a County Health Nurse in the hills and hollers of West Virginia and a rehab nurse in Raleigh.
They traveled worldwide extensively with Sister Cities, Friendship Force and Citizens for Understanding and to visit many foreign students they sponsored at area universities. Dot loved playing bridge and enjoyed reading books and magazines. They appreciated their many friends in the Dinner Club during 40 years of fellowship and feasting. They also hosted family gatherings at Emerald Island for two decades.
She is preceded in death by Bob after a wondrous 60 year marriage, her son Bill and her brother Bill Ridgeway. She is survived by her sister Lyn Ridgeway, son David and his wife Dona, daughter in law Barbara, grandchildren Amy, Greg and Milinda plus great grandchildren Logan and Connor and Ridgeway nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, 11:00 at Magnolia Glen, 5301 Creedmoor Rd, officiated by the Pastors of St. Marks United Methodist Church.
The family suggests in lieu flowers that donations be made to Hospice of Wake County so that they can continue helping the people of Raleigh.
