Gayle Anne Steger Jordan

Gayle Anne Steger Jordan, 65, of Raleigh NC, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Gayle was born on September 26, 1945, in Mechanicsburg, PA, to the late O.H. “Mike” and Katharine Steger.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Reginald C. Jordan, three daughters, Erin (husband Scott), Kelly, and Megan, two grandchildren, Noah and Nathan, as well as her brother, Mike, and her sister, Lynne. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Camden.

Gayle was employed as an Administrative Specialist at the North Carolina League of Municipalities, where she supported regulatory affairs efforts. She was also an active member of Benson Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving others by attending annual mission trips to Hinton, NC and Jamaica. She was involved in her church’s prison ministry outreach program and the Women’s Retreat. Gayle was an American Red Cross volunteer and assisted victims in Florida after Hurricane Katrina. She also actively supported no-kill animal shelter and care organizations.

Gayle taught those around her how to have meaningful personal relationships and always tried to find the good in everyone. She truly enjoyed helping others. Gayle loved her family and was devoted to her grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2011, from 1:00–2:00pm at Benson United Methodist Church, 4706 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612. A celebration of her life will follow at 2:00pm at the church.
