Happy Teague, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 24, 2011. Our sweet Happy is in Heaven now singing His praises in the highest heavens with the heavenly host. (Psalms 108:1-5) Her children want to thank her for leaving a legacy of unconditional love, faithful witness, and a giving servant's heart. She fought the good fight of faith! (I Tim. 6:12). She taught them how to live life to the fullest.
Happy was born November 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Wade Benson and Aleen (Lamb) Kearns. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She lived for her family, "adopted" many sons and daughters throughout her life, and made an impact on all that knew her. She was a genuine ambassador for Christ. Happy was a graduate of Guilford College. She was an opera singer, pilot with The Civil Air Patrol during WWII, realtor, owner and CEO of Happy’s Way, LLC, substitute teacher for Wake County Public Schools, and also worked at the polls every election. She has been a featured soloist at the Capital during Christmas season each year since 1978. Happy was honored with being named North Carolina“Mother of the Year” in 1998. Former Mayor Tom Fetzer declared June 16, 1998 to be “Happy Teague Day” in Raleigh.
