

Harry H. Eaton, of the Rosewood at the Cypress, was born on December 24, 1925 in Randolph, MA. Harry grew up in Brockton, MA where he went to school. He was the son of the late Mary and Warren Eaton. Harry is survived his two sisters, Violet Wheeler and Addie Garbet of Mesa, AZ and two brothers, Fred and Kenneth Eaton of Easton, MA. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jean McHarney Eaton; his two sons H. Howard Eaton, Jr. (Linda) and C. Warren Eaton (Kathy); and two granddaughters Ashley Eaton Toler (John) and Carmen Eaton D’Amelio (Michael), all of Raleigh; grandson Nicholas Eaton of Fayetteville, NC; five great-grandchildren Max and Finn D’Amelio, Vaughn, Ross, and Aubrey Toler. He is also survived by his sisters Rita Minto of Benton, PA and Dorothy Costantino, of Mesa , AZ; three brothers Paul Eaton of Greensboro, NC, Dr. Gordon Eaton of Hatsboro, PA and Earl Eaton of Brockton, MA.
Harry served in World War II in the US Marine Corps. He was a top turret gunner on a B-25 in the Philippines. While he was in the Marines, he met and married the love of his life, Jean McHarney of Belhaven, NC. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he attended Insurance Appraisal School in Yonkers, NY before taking a job with Service Fire Insurance Company in Raleigh, NC, where he worked for several years. He worked for U.S.F. & G. as Assistant Superintendent of Claims. While at U.S. F. & G, he completed several CPU and law courses before starting Eaton Adjustment and Appraisal Service, of which he was President. After retiring, he was involved in buying and selling real estate. He was an active church member at First Baptist Church of Cary for 47 years before moving to Greenwood Forest Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh from 6 -8 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. There will be a funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 1 pm. An interment will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the GFBC Building Fund. A special thank you to the staff at Rosewood at the Cypress of Raleigh, NC for the care they have provided during his past few years. .
