Hubert Lee Norwood

Hubert Norwood, was born on October 19, 1922, and passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025 at the age of 102, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faithfulness.

Hubert was the youngest son of Wiley and Lillian Norwood and outlived his six siblings: Thomas, Blanche, Davis, William, Frances, and Mary. He was the last surviving son of his family, a cherished link to a generation filled with devotion and resilience.

On October 7, 1951, at the age of 28, Hubert dedicated his life to Jehovah. His faith became the foundation of a life marked by generosity, humility, and steadfast service. On April 14, 1956, he married the love of his life, the late Shirley Norwood. Together, they built a life centered on love,devotion, and their shared commitment to Jehovah.

A hardworking and diligent man, Hubert worked for Southern Bell from 1951 to 1984. He found joy in the fruits of his labor, particularly in his gardening. His dedication to his garden not only nourished his soul but also fed countless people throughout the years. It is estimated that his generosity and love for sharing the abundance of his garden touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands.

Hubert also had a passion for restoring antique furniture. His home is a testament to his skill and creativity, filled with beautifully refinished pieces that speak to his meticulous craftsmanship and love for preserving history.

Hubert’s life was marked by a rare combination of hard work, faith, and generosity. His kindness, humility, and dedication to Jehovah touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A visitation for Hubert will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6320 Fox Rd, Raleigh, NC 27616.
