B.A., MBA
December 27, 1975 - March 1, 2016
We are saddened to announce the passing of James Andrew Mossey on March 1, 2016, following a hard fought battle with colon cancer. James was born in Edmonton, Alberta on December 27th, 1975. He graduated from Archbishop MacDonald High School. He received his BA at the University of Alberta and his MBA from the University of Victoria (British Columbia, Canada)
While attending University, James proudly served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Naval Reserve. His love of travel took him all over the world. He settled in Raleigh, NC where he met and married Lesley, the love of his life, in May 2009.
During his last year he was able to share his love of the UK with Lesley and also visit Paris where they “locked in their love” with a lock on the famous Bridge of Locks. James had many passions including movies, music, books, scuba diving, and Lego! Over the past year, while undergoing treatment, he kept busy building huge Lego displays (mostly Star Wars) which are proudly displayed throughout his home!
James is survived by his wife Lesley (Herring); Mom, Glennis; brothers, Mark (Amber), Mathew; nieces Stella, Veronica, and “best buddy” nephew Gabrielle, Mom-In-Law Jim and numerous extended family in the UK and Canada. James is predeceased by his dad, Dr. Joe Mossey.
A celebration of James’ life will be held on Saturday March 5th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609 at 1PM with Fr. Gerry Blaszczak S.J. officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at Buffalo Brothers 3111 Capital Blvd. Raleigh, NC 27604.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in James’ name be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. We would like to sincerely thank the Hospice Nurses and the staff of Hospice House for their outstanding care and attention during James’ final days. James made a huge impact on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on forever.
