James Paul "J.P." Smith, 38, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2015 in Miami, Florida. He was born on March 17, 1977 in Raleigh, NC. J.P. will always be remembered for his big heart, ability to make others laugh, his love of fishing and animals, and being a social butterfly. He never met a stranger. He was a 1995 graduate of Broughton High School.
He is survived by his parents, Marie E. Knight and Kenneth Smith, sister, Amy Stica Hunter, brother, Anthony Smith, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special niece, Victoria Claire Cox.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10:00 am, Sacred Heart Cathedral, 219 W. Edenton St., Raleigh.
