

With a heavy heart filled with many loving memories, we announce that our mother and sister passed away on July 13, 2025 at her home. Janet was born in Raleigh, NC on August 3, 1949, the second child born to Ernest J. and Doris Olmstead Reddish, both of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Needham Broughton High School and worked in Raleigh her entire career, eventually retiring from Manpower, Inc. In 1975, she married Basil Tippette and they had one daughter, Angela Tippette McCoy. Janet married Stewart Pickett in 1993 and soon moved to Indian Beach, NC where she and Stewart owned and operated The Big Oak Drive-In and BBQ in Salter Path. Stewart died in November 2022, Janet sold The Big Oak and returned to Raleigh in 2025.
Janet is survived by her daughter Angela McCoy (Mark), of Raleigh, step-daughters Deborah Langhans (Brad) of Durham, NC, and Diane Sherman (Jon) of Syracuse, NY and grandchildren Ainsley McCoy of Raleigh, NC, Travis Davis of Raleigh, NC, Casey Davis of Syracuse, NY, Griffin Langhans of Virginia Beach, VA, and Hunter Langhans of Austin, TX.
She is also survived by her sister, Joyce R. Kronenwetter (Chris Harlow) of Belmont, NC, and brother, Ernie J. Reddish (Cindy) of Woodlawn, VA. In addition, she is survived by her nephew and niece, Michael A. Reddish and Jennnifer Reddish Buckley. Janet was also predeceased by her two beloved fur-babies, Muffin and Lulu, and is survived by Cocoa.
Janet loved to sew and was a beautiful seamstress. Evidence of her talent remains in the homes of her family and many fortunate friends. She enjoyed cruising, and she and Stewart made many memories during their cruises to various ports. She was an avid bridge player and overall enjoyed all table card games. Janet loved her community at Salter Path United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 17, 2025 at 2pm at Trinity Baptist Church. Family visitation will follow the service. Donations in lieu of flowers can be given to Trinity Baptist Church.
