

John C. “Bucky” Bartimac, a devoted husband, father, brother, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 82. He was the son of the late John A. Bartimac and Gladys Bartimac.
John graduated from Freedom High School Class of 1961.
A hardworking and selfless provider, John served in the U.S. Army before working in the steel mills of PA, where he built a life rooted in perseverance and sacrifice. He remained committed and devoted to every challenge life presented. Hence, in June 1986, John moved his family to Raleigh, NC where he built a successful concrete business which he owned and operated for over 25 years until his retirement, at the age of 70. He had a strong work ethic ensuring his family was cared for and supported.
John spent many years coaching various sports, mentoring young kids. He loved to fish and play jokes on people by putting rubber spiders, cockroaches, or mice on their shoulders or in his food. What John cherished the most was his loving wife, Gena!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gena Rossi Bartimac; his children, Brian Bartimac, Natalie Bartimac (fiancé Quincy Alleyne), and Michael Bartimac; his sister, Patty Sproull; and his brother, George Bartimac, and many nieces and nephews.
John’s strength, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home,1701 East Millbrook Rd Raleigh, NC 27609 Monday April 7 between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A service and reception will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 5808 Fall of Neuse Rd Raleigh, NC 27609 Tuesday April 8 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers or a charity of your choice in his memory.
