I grew up with the Hardees, Jeff/Joe and Ruth on Alma Street. Joe was a great guy. Although I was a couple of years older, we were good friends. Joe was a great athlete and we always competed in sports. Nonetheless, we enjoyed each other's company. I was just thinking of him recently. We went to Lake Fairfax for the day and met two sisters who we continued to see after that day. I smile whenever I think of that time. I am glad to see he had an accomplished career and a full life. RIP my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Joe, there are no words to describe how much we will miss your smile and all the love you shared with us and many others.

To Phyllis and all the family, we pray that the Lord will hold you in His loving arms during this very difficult time. Please always remember that Joe brought joy to the lives of so very many and he will never be forgotten.

Love and prayers,
Megan and Scott Allen

My memories of Jeff date back to the JFK days in the late 60’s, early 70’s. Listening to Janice Joplin singing ‘me and Bobby MCGee’ in the Hardee mustang, and fits of laughter at the Hardee house and ours, to name a few. Jeff wasn’t only Sandy’s big brother, he was mine too. Sandy and I have been best of friends since those days, and she’ll always be my lil’ sis. I’m so sorry for your loss, Sandy, Ruth and all his family and loved ones. He’s gone too soon.
