Julie was born in Arcadia, Florida on June 20, 1966. After graduating in 1984 from Desoto County High School in Arcadia, Florida, she obtained her BS in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 1988. She went on to receive a Masters in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 1993 and a nurse anesthesia certificate from the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia in August 1993. Julie worked at many of the Wake Medical Center facilities as a certified nurse anesthetist but most recently was employed by Capital Surgery Center in Raleigh NC.
Julie is survived by her daughter, Audra Timmons of Wake Forest, NC and her son Keegan Timmons of Jacksonville, NC; 2 sisters, Jane Cline (Adrian) of Arcadia, Florida and Susan Sorrells of Raleigh, NC; 3 nephews, Jonathan Olive, Benjamin Cline and William Cline. Julie was pre-deceased by her parents, Howard and Celia Sorrells.
Julie was a selfless person who valiantly fought inflammatory breast cancer for 12 years. Despite multiple surgeries, scans, radiation, and chemo, she remained positive and hopeful and was an inspiration to many people. She was a dedicated mother, sister and daughter. Her children were her pride and joy and she protected them fiercely and was proud of their accomplishments and the fine young adults they have become. Despite 12 years of constant illness, she worked through it all. Julie loved her 2 dogs, Peaches and Brodie, who were like 2 additional children to her. She was a master at word games and woe to you if you challenged her in such games. Julie was non-judgmental and accepted people as they were and where they were. She loved her work family and her church family and we are all better people for having known her. She will be missed terribly.
A celebration of Julie’s life will be held Saturday, August 4th, 2018 at 2:00pm at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, 8501 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh NC.
Interment will be in the columbarium at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation www.ibcresearch.org.
