Lea Ackerman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lea Ackerman, who died peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 82. She passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her loving daughters, Marla and Karen.

A resident of Raleigh for 57 years, Lea was deeply cherished by her community of friends. She was an active member of several social clubs and found great joy in playing Mahjong, Bridge, and Euchre. With a thirst for knowledge and stories, she was always reading. She shared countless memories, meals, and heartfelt conversations with those she held dear.

Lea was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her warmth, kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. She especially treasured engaging with her grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, and encouraging them to follow their dreams.

Lea loved volunteering at Note in the Pocket, a charity organization based in NC that provides “quality clothing to homeless and impoverished children and families with dignity and love.”

Lea is survived by her four children: Marla Bolt, Laura Lee, Karen Miller, and Michael Bolt and their spouses, as well as eight beloved grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

We will all greatly miss her, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts. We love you, Mom. We love you, Grammy.

A memorial service for Lea will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
