Lucille Overby Martin

Catherine Lucille Overby Martin, 89, passed Saturday, June 7, 2025, after several years of declining health. She was born in Pine Level, NC, on December 30, 1935, the daughter of Andrew and Dora Walton Overby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Elvin Martin; her parents; brother, Henry Spence Overby; and sisters, Audrey Walton Overby Moore and Dixie Pauline Overby Medlin.

Ms. Martin is survived by her son, Ken Martin, and wife, Diane; daughter, Jane Mills, and husband, Wally;Grandson, Matthew Martin, and wife, Kelly; Granddaughter, Rebecca Mills; Great Granddaughter, Amelia Ryan Martin; and nephew, Harrison Moore, each of Raleigh,NC.

A devoted and doting mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, Ms. Martin enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, celebrated special family gatherings, and delighted in her annual summer trips to the North Carolina coast with her family.

Ms. Martin completed 26 years of professional employment as a policy service clerk for Unigard Insurance, and later Great American Insurance Company prior to her retirement in 1996.

She was a member of Millbrook United Methodist Church and a former member of Corinth Methodist Church, Four Oaks, NC, prior to her moving to Raleigh with her husband, Roy, and children in 1966.

A celebration of life service shall be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home chapel, 1701 East Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. A reception will follow afterward for the family to receive family and friends. A private interment will be performed later that day at Corinth Methodist Church cemetery, Four Oaks, NC.

The family requests memorials may be made to Corinth Methodist Church, 4170 US Hwy 301 S, Four Oaks, NC, 27524. Flowers are also welcome.
