

Ovidio was born July 17, 1931 in Cuba to the late Narcizo Lugones and Maria Fontela. He was a veteran of the US Army and was employed as a millwright with General Motors for over 31 years. After his retirement, he moved to Florida and then to Raleigh, NC to be near family. Ovidio was a member of North Ridge Bible Chapel, where he was very active in the prison ministry and the children’s Good News Club. He was also a member of Gideon’s International.
Ovidio was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Lugones; brothers, Osvaldo; Oscar; and Ovidio Lugones; sisters, Ofelia; and Olga Lugones.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Flor E. Lugones; sons, Alex Lugones and his wife, Amy of CT; Leo Lugones and his wife, Lucy of TX; and daughter, Catherine Bundenthal and her husband, Terence of Raleigh; brother, Orestes Lugones; and sister, Obdulia Lugones; 8 grandchildren, Vanessa; Patricia; Catherine; Melissa; Elizabeth; Anthony; Christa; and Jared.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, June 1, 2012 at North Ridge Bible Chapel, 7100 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Ridge Bible Chapel.
