Patricia Mae Hairston

Patricia was a wonderful loving and caring woman. She worked for Southside Hospital in Brentwood-Long Island, NY as a Nursing Assistant for 30 years until her retirement in 2004. Patricia was a member of the Local Union 1199 while she was a nurse in New York. While in New York she was also a foster parent, providing a loving and caring environment to many children. Upon her retirement from Southside Hospital Patricia moved to Raleigh to be with her children. She maintained her love for healthcare by working for various offices and providing home healthcare until her illness.

When Patricia moved to Raleigh, being a woman of the Lord she searched for a church and found Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where her daughter attended. Patricia was very active in the church and loved to help people. She loved flowers, gardening, going on cruises, shopping, and the San Antonio Spurs, most of all she loved her family, especially her precious grandchildren. Patricia will be missed by the many people she touched in her church, friends and the patients she took care of as a Healthcare Professional but especially by her loving family.

Patricia is survived by her children, Kasandra Moore and Terrence Dixon; grandchildren, Makayla and Aiden Moore; special friend, Terry Letterlough and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:15pm Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 7600 Falls of Neuse, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
