

Pauline Reavis Stone, 87, died Friday, February 18, 2011. Born in Warren County, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tucker Stone, Sr., her parents, Archie William Reavis and Nannie Floyd Reavis, her brother, Archie William Reavis, Jr., and her sisters Nancy Royster Reavis and Mary Delia Reavis.
Pauline worked as a secretary for Corbett Company, the Vance County Health Department, and Rose’s Stores in Henderson, NC. She moved to Raleigh in 1984 and provided loving care for the children of close friends as well as for her own grandchildren. Pauline touched the lives of many people through her selfless nature and her generous spirit.
She is survived by two sons, John Tucker Stone, Jr. and his wife Patsy; William Taylor Stone and his wife Karen; a daughter, Susan Stone Meng and her husband Charlie; three grandchildren, Leighann Stone Roblee and her husband Mark, Kendall Stone Peeler, and Manning Tucker Peeler. She is also survived by a sister, Sarah Reavis Currin of Henderson; three brothers, Harvey Hunter Reavis of Siler City, Sampson Parham Reavis of Waxhaw and Thomas Beverly Reavis of Monroe.
The family would like to thank “adopted granddaughters” Kimberly Smith Young, Cyndi Smith, and Mary Ellen Smith for providing excellent in-home care during Pauline’s battle with Alzheimer’s. The family is also grateful to the staff of Litchford Falls Health Care for the compassionate care that they provided in the last seven months of Pauline’s life. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 21 at the funeral home. A family graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607; or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern NC, 1305 Navaho Dr. Suite 101, Raleigh NC 27609.
