Peggy Jo Cofield Priester

Peggy Jo Cofield (“Peg”) Priester, 83, died August 17, 2016 surrounded by her family. Peg, the youngest daughter of Rebecca Bass Cofield and Willis Parker Cofield, was born on June 17, 1933 in La Grange, Georgia. Peg attended La Grange High School and went on to graduate from Auburn University. On January 29, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Buck Priester.

In 1958, Peg and her family returned to their hometown of La Grange where Peg taught school while Buck coached high school football. In 1963, Peg and Buck entered the hospitality business, which eventually lead them to Greensboro, N.C. It was there that they founded their own hotel management company, Executive Management, Inc., which owned, operated, built and renovated hotels throughout the country. In 1994, Peg and Buck retired to Raleigh where Peg enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.

Peg was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived life vibrantly and enthusiastically. She treated everyone like family and adored her own. She is survived by her son, Amos U. Priester, IV and his wife, Lisa; son, Pete Priester, and his wife Jill; her daughter, Jodi Stanley; her grandchildren, Lindsay Priester, Nikki Chapman, and her husband, Alex, Tom Priester, Becky Priester and Nicholas Priester; and her great-grandchildren, Reese and Ryder Chapman. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Buck; her parents; her son, Willis Parker Priester; her sister, Rebecca Cofield Pruitt; her brother-in-law, George Priester; and her son-in-law, Tommy Carroll.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at noon at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. A private graveside service will precede the funeral.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Tommy Carroll, or Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
