Robert "Bob" Van Valkenburgh

Bob received a teaching degree in Music from the State University of NY at Potsdam in 1942. Later that year he volunteered for service in the Army Air Corps and served as a Meteorologist for the durationof WW II. After the war Bob taught Music and met his first wife Jean E. Weir. Bob and Jean moved to New Paltz, NY in 1952 where they both worked at Daystrom Electric in Poughkeepsie NY. Bob went on to work for IBM Corporation in Kingston NY, and later in Raleigh, NC where he had a 33 year career. Bob was active in Handbell choirs and served as a Deacon at Millbrook Baptist Church. After his first wife, Jean, passed away in 1999, Bob married a WW II sweetheart, Helen Van Valkenburgh from Agawam, MA. Bob and "Ellie" remained married until her death in 2008.

Bob leaves behind a Son Thomas and Dianne Van Valkenburgh of Lynchburg VA along with their children Alanna and Ethan. He also leaves behind a Son John and Michele Van Valkenburgh of Knightdale NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the NAVVF College Scholarship Fund, Robert Van Valkenburgh Honorarium, PO Box 411010, St. Louis MO 63141.
